The passion for media, marketing and communication has always been with me. Classic studies: politics, history, media. Doctorate: media history, law, administrative science. Outside of university: marketing, media production, internet, e-commerce.
I have been fascinated by the digital world since 1995. I always wanted to be at the cutting edge (or rather one step ahead): new business models, new brands, new advertising channels. For HolidayCheck, I ‘hacked’ growth for the first time and achieved strong ROIs from budgets in the millions.
Accompanying HolidayCheck from 7 to 350 employees - this experience shaped the next few years and laid the foundation for consulting, interim management and my own start-ups as well as supporting up-and-coming talent. And this is the second part of my journey: knowledge transfer, support, development. I started teaching while I was still a student and continued this passion during my doctorate and my time at HolidayCheck. This was followed by a professorship in e-commerce in tourism, which gave me even more access to business management topics.
I have been offering my expertise in consulting since 2012, especially for start-ups and companies in phases of growth and change. My ‘Growth Pain Matrix’ describes the challenges that companies face in the growth process. Working with growing start-ups has made me realize the importance of corporate culture. Again and again, I moved back to every-day working life: as a manager or entrepreneur.
Coming together and working together gives rise to a shared experience and, from that, expertise. Values develop and are shaped. Culture can be officially defined or undefined, but even when it is subconscious, it is always noticeable and tangible.
I always look at the big picture and search for images and connections to underpin my analyses and recommendations. My sparring is critical, analytical, appreciative and empathetic at the same time. My experiences have shaped me, my expertise has developed over the years and I am happy to use my knowledge and analytical skills to take companies to the next level.
